Depending on where you sit in the room, you will see yourself very small or very large. The effect is even more effective if you go there with another person and place yourself in different corners.

Interactive Print Gallery

This lithograph symbolizes the intersection of art and mathematics. After long attempts in trying to defy the laws of perspective by drawing an infinitely repeating image, M.C. Escher decided to leave the central part of the drawing empty, and finished the work in 1956. Fifty years later, a team of mathematicians headed by Hendrik Lenstra managed to finish the drawing after several months of research. Come discover the secrets of this iconic print!

About the Experience

What can I expect at the event? M.C. Escher is a major retrospective dedicated to Maurits Cornelis Escher, featuring over 150 works presented in an immersive journey filled with impossible worlds, optical illusions, and interactive experiences.
Where is the experience located?

The experience is located at Embankment Galleries, Somerset House, Strand, London WC2R 1LA in central London. It’s just steps away from Covent Garden and West End.

We recommend accessing the venue from the Embankment Galleries entrance which is located on Victoria Embankment.
Is the experience indoors or outdoors? This experience takes place indoors.
How long does the experience last? Visitors typically spend between 60 and 90 minutes at the experience, but there is no time limit once you've entered, feel free to explore at your own pace.
Will food and drinks be available for purchase?

There are multiple cafes and restaurants within Somerset House to purchase food and drink from. However, please note that food and drink is not permitted within the exhibition space.

Is there parking nearby? Unfortunately, there is no public parking available on site. Disabled parking bay is located at the Victoria Embankment entrance. We strongly recommend using public transportation. Temple Underground Station is less than a 5-minute walk away, and additionally Covent Garden (8 min walk), and Charing Cross (10 min walk).
Will additional sessions or dates be added? We cannot guarantee that additional dates or sessions will be added. Please check the event page for the most up-to-date information regarding availability, dates, and confirmed times.
Will there be merchandise for sale? Yes, a curated selection of M.C. Escher-related merchandise will be available for purchase on site.

About tickets

Where can I get tickets? In the Fever App, available on Google Play, Apple Store and on the Fever website.
Can I purchase tickets at the door?

We will have a box office on site. However, tickets may be sold out by the time you arrive at the event, so we highly recommend you book your tickets in advance in order to guarantee your spot. You can purchase tickets in the Fever App or on the Fever website.\

Can I transfer my tickets to another person? Yes, you can transfer your tickets to anyone for free. It is as easy as clicking "Transfer Tickets" on your ticket in the Fever App. Please contact us if you need additional help. Make sure to include your ticket order number.
Do I need to print my ticket? You can find your ticket in the "Tickets" section of the Fever app (you can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play). Please remember to log in with the same login method used to make the purchase. You will also find your QR code in your purchase confirmation email.
I can't find my ticket. What should I do? You can view your ticket in the Fever app, within the Tickets section. If you don't have the app installed, you can download it from the Apple Store or Google Play. Remember to log in using the same account that you used when buying the tickets. If you still cannot find your ticket, please contact us.
Can I change the date of my ticket? Are refunds allowed?

This experience allows date changes up to 48 hours in advance. If you would like to make the change, please contact us and include the ticket ID associated with your purchase (What is the ticket ID?). One of our agents will respond to your request as soon as possible, informing you of the next steps to follow.

Accessibility & Practical Information

Do I need to arrive at the start of my scheduled session? Visitors should arrive at their allocated ticket time to ensure a smooth entry.

Due to high demand, weekends can be very busy and entry times may be extended.
What happens if I arrive late? If you are late or experience any travel issues, please speak to one of our Visitor Experience Assistants at our exhibition upon arrival, and they will try to accommodate your booking at the next available slot. This is not guaranteed.
Can I bring animals? Are service dogs allowed? Unfortunately, no pets are allowed in this event’s location, though we do welcome service animals.
Is the venue accessible for people with reduced mobility? Yes, the core exhibition is accessible to people with reduced mobility. However, some experiences within the interactive installations might not be suitable for people with reduced mobility.
What are the prohibited items at the experience? Food and beverages are not allowed inside the exhibition space.
Do you offer caretaker / support person tickets? Visitors with disabilities may bring a companion free of charge. You can book a free Companion ticket on the ticket selector. Disabled companion tickets should only be booked alongside a paid ticket. Please note that the companion must enter the venue together with the ticket holder.
Will there be strobe lights? This event won't include continuous strobe lights. However, there are multiple areas with projections in the exhibition path.
Are there chairs available? This is a walkthrough experience, but if you need a little rest, you will be able to find many benches throughout the exhibition for you to have a break. We also have a provision of foldable stools available for use.
Will restrooms be available on site? There are no toilets within the exhibition space itself. However, Somerset House has multiple free public restroom facilities, including large gender-neutral cubicles across the New, South, East, and North Wings. The closest restrooms to the exhibition can be found in the Great Arch Hall and will be signposted.
Can I take photos or record the experience? Feel free to take photos and share them. When taking photos, please make sure not to disturb other customers. Professional equipment and tripods are not permitted.
Is there a Lost & Found? Please ask staff at the venue if they have found your belongings. If you've already left Somerset House, please call 020 7845 4600 or email us at visitor@somersethouse.org.uk
Is there a coat check available? No, there is no coat check available in the venue. Please note that suitcases and large bags are not permitted in the exhibition space. The nearest luggage storage facility is located at Charing Cross station, a 10 minute walk from Somerset House.
Is there an age requirement?

All ages are welcome! Children aged 3 months and under can visit free of charge, and children under the age of 17 need to be accompanied by adults with a valid child or youth ticket.

Access to the interior of the exhibition with baby strollers or prams is not permitted.

A buggy park is available free of charge under the Stamp Stairs (LG level) It can be accessed via the Embankment Entrance. Prams and buggies are left here at the owner's risk. Somerset House cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage.
Will there be paying audioguides available? Yes! There will be audioguides available in English and French for visitors to rent on-site or add as an add-on when purchasing online.
